Brizzy baby!!

So, I know I haven’t written in some days now, but I’ve been sooo busy. Warning: this will be a long blog. Just so you know. And in English. Last time I published a blog was from Bangkok. Our last weekend in Bangkok consisted mostly of shopping. We went to the huge, and I mean HUGE, weekend marked in Bangkok. They sell everything you could think of including animals. I looove pugs (mops på norsk), and I found pug puppies at the marked. In Norway you can buy them for about 20.000 kr, at the marked you could get a puppy for 1000 kr. Insane. Anyways, on Saturday night, Valentines Day, we went to Cabbages and Condoms. It’s a restaurant that raises money for aids victims and aids awareness etc. Really fun place.

On Sunday, feb 15th, we left for Sidney. I have to say that Anette and I are really good to navigate our way through airports and cities now. Naturals. The flight was terrible. It was a bumpy 9 hour flight. In Sidney we had to catch another flight to Brisbane, 1,5 hours. We thought we had organized the uni to pick us up, but no one came. Found out later that we hadn’t pre-booked it far enough in advance. That sucked. But we hopped in a taxi which took us directly to our hostel (Brisbane Backpackers). I thought I could handle living in a hostel with strangers, but found out quickly enough, that hostels isn’t my thing. Its ok, I survived. But I would probably not do it again, if I could choose not to. We decided to look for a flat immediately. So we went 30 hours without sleep, walking around Brisbane. The next day we had booked a showing. We got lucky or desperate, depends how you look at it, and got the apartment. So we arrived on Monday, got an apartment on Tuesday, and moved in on Wednesday. During this time we also got familiar with the ferry system (Yes, they have ferries/city cats in Brisbane), visited Marianne, our Norwegian friend, and walked around University of Queensland.

Uni is BIG! There are 3 lakes at campus, housing, dozens of shops and restaurants/cafes. 4-5 libraries, and really good sport facilities. I want to take a membership at the gym here, but I think it will be too expensive. I’ll probably write some more about uni later.

Our house is 20 min from Uni. Walking distance. And shops, restaurant are about 10 min away. That’s the main reason we rented this place. The address is

102 Highland Terrace
4067 St Lucia
Bribane Queensland
Australia

I would really like en ostehøvel!! Please send me one! Haha. What was I thinking not bringing one? How do you cut cheese without one? Im puzzled.

Anyways, our house has a lot of potential. If they just fixed it up it would be great. However, its not a palace. And it was really filthy when we moved in. But we have cleaned up, and the landlord said that we could get the first week for half price. There is still one room available in the house. There were a couple of guys here to look at it, but they probably decided not to take them. I am hoping for someone with a car, or a local aussie. That would be fun.

I love Brisbane by the way. There are parks everywhere. And aussies are the nicest people. Anette and I walk around lost most of the time, but we always find out where to go with a little help by the locals. We have only been here 4 days, but feel like I have seen a lot of Brisbane. And we have also attended one of the compulsory info classes at school.

O-week starts on Monday. We have to go to 3 compulsory info session. One is about safety down under, about the wildlife here. Sharks, spiders, snakes, jellyfish you name it. So next week we will be at uni a lot. Our classes doesn’t start before the week after that. Looking forward to starting school again. Has been a long time now.

So that was a long update about my life down here so far.

Chiao fra regnfulle New Zealand

  2. Hei Marion!
Her er alt vel.
